weekend

I WAS HOME

ok hi, hi!!! i'm back from a stupendous long weekend home of little lunches around my favorite suburban restaurants, george gershwin being camera shy, finally finding a dress for stoop's wedding, and stoop obviously getting drunk at brunch.

oh and then johnswik, my future brother-in-law, rolled in to sing: when i say afi, you say komen. it only took (formerly little, now really tall) jake about two hours to find it. i think he won a high five?

being home was just so much awesome stillness, like sitting on the couch and watching girls and spending five hours in the spice shop with mum smelling every single spice thrice and painting my nails purple and watching melissa down a robicelli's cupcake on the television with katie and jaclyn while we drank cider. nothing i'd ever be able to do in new york without feeling guilty for not being at this album release show or that new opera or catching up on my new yorker.

and so now i'm back and pondering my existence as a half-way to new yorker brooklynite and mostly i just want to be eating kale in the kitchen with mum as she brushes gracie's teeth. oy vay.

WEEKEND WARRIORS

in the weekend, we pretended it was spring when we ran around the park and then over to the greenmarket.
we avoided the internet for a full 24 hours and regained our imaginations.
there was kale and bacon pop-tart baking, pottery painting, and plenty of strolls through town.
i acquired lots of jars which marked the beginning of a grain library and a pickle hobby.
eggboy sang eggman and the next morning featured andy griffith and barney fife.
add one embarrassing game of scrabble where i picked all of the x's and eggboy all of the e's, some civil wars, and tea with the queen
and yes, i'd say it was really quite a lovely few days.

WEEKEND WARRIORS

during the weekend we were tourists in our own city. or, manhattan, if i can call it mine anymore. it happened after a dream where i gave up my big brooklyn apartment for a tiny manhattan thing. i woke up half scared and half excited at the feeling of living in a treehouse above the big city, if only in a dream. so away we rode, for coffee with rob in his midtown high rise and to urbanly explore all over central park and the upper west side. one bag of kale chips and one augustus saint-gaudens statue later my manhattan quota was met and it was time to head home.

et + loved this weekend:

WEEKEND WARRIORS

over the weekend i ate hamantaschen and basically only hamantaschen.
i showered, i brushed my hair, i went to manhattan {things i don't often do on a weekend}.
eggboy and i went to a roller derby in gowanus {things we don't often do on a weekend}.
and we saw dave play xenakis and viñao {things i want to do way more often on a weekend}.

also this weekend i visited eggboy's apartment for the second time ever. {it has a pretty brick wall and a minnesota flag.}
the wind about knocked me horizontal.
and, look, a new feature began!
