weekend

this weekend

this weekend i did not shower at all and i did not put on makeup. it was a perfect few days for alpaca socks and brussels sprouts and morning bok choy. most of my time this weekend was spent in the kitchen making dumplings and scallion pancakes. but i also got out a bit, mainly to find myself at the heaven-on-earth that is kalustyan's where i bought matcha green tea powder and hickory smoke powder and the kind of sugar you need for liège waffles. smokey pearl sugar cupcakes anyone?? this weekend eggboy sang the beatles to me in my newly made over room, and i purchased the most perfect little tea party tray from ikea. {oh yeah, we had a friday date to ikea!} this weekend i got into the valentine's day spirit, i brewed eggboy his first cup of coffee in a very long time, i discussed gangnam style over the internet radio, and roommate patrick had really wonderful pit stains.

{this weekend was, i'd say, quite perfect.}

the shameless life

do you guys remember in high school when it was semi-normal to kick off the weekend with a domino's pizza and breadsticks, and then not shower for three days and spend like 12 entire hours in front of your computer doing homework and talking about clothes on the a.i.m. while you drink out of the orange juice carton and listen to ben folds five?

and then on sunday night you do everything in your power to hold on to every last single solitary second of the weekend?

yes, yes. that was this weekend. just about. substitute the a.i.m. for the twitter, the ben folds for the gabriel, the homework for the article on how to make jewy thanksgiving stuffing.

add one night of successfully purchasing boardwalk and park place without going bankrupt, sipping marzipan hot cocoa that has been invaded by nougat, and listening to edith piaf on the radio, in front of the fake fireplace that used to belong to joe

top it off with 1 1/2 bratwursts and an assignment to watch all of the star wars movies. {i haven't even seen one full star wars movie. am i still your friend?}

happy monday, everyone!

sunday funday

lately, when i haven't been sleeping or washing my hair or at work, i've been rehearsing for dog days or in traffic on the way to or from rehearsing for dog days. even though i'm pretty much in love with that opera {seriously, you guys, see it}, the rehearsal hours are not conducive to checking off the brooklyn-based tasks on my fun-genda, which has tripled in size since i moved here.

so when today's rehearsal became an unrehearsal, or, a day off, mr. nfh and i immediately took to the road on our bikes {and my new bike seat! which cost the equivalent of two black label burgers but whatever} and ate brunch*, and then brunch again**, and then lunch***, and then kind of lunch again****. we made pumpkin risotto omgomgomgomgomg pumpkin season omg risotto season, and stopped at mast brothers for a little chocolate tasting.

it was the best! we even tried on hats.
